Black Box Cafe

Black Box is a small cafe that sits at the entrance of Plaza Mahatun, the same small enclosure where La Monita and El Osito are located. The cafe is small, best for a quick lunch break from work or a small meal with a friend. The interior lives up to it's name- black walls, floors and ceilings. The restaurant has a few seats outside under the shade, but most sit inside. At 11am on a Sunday, they were quite busy, yet no one was seated upstairs on their second floor.

The Vanilla Milkshake was not quite as creamy as expected. It consisted of mostly ice and some flavour.

The HungryMan, Black Box's classic breakfast was your average Western breakfast in a large quantity, yet not that big.

The Avocado Chicken sandwich was satisfying, but nothing special.

The Eggs Benedict and Pulled Pork was probably the best dish on the table. Combined with steamed vegetables, a salad and toast, the peppery pulled pork complimented a creamy hollandaise sauce. Good quality, a bit more original than the rest of their dishes, but not out-of-the-ordinary.

Finally, the Grilled Seabass satisfactory again, nothing wrong with it, but nothing special.

To conclude, Black Box is your average cafe with a little bit of originality.
