Dining under a picturesque setting, beneath the canopy of a large tree strewn with fairy lights that gave a warm yellow glow, Pizza Massilia is perfect for a quick family dinner or date. Located convenietly in the car park of MK Gold restaurant, the newest gourmet food truck to hit the city is surely worth a visit. Having been open for only 2-3 weeks, Pizza Massilia is already enjoying a long line of hungry diners, awaiting spare tables as no reservations are allowed.

Pizza Massilia joins the innovation of Luca Apino from Bottega di Luca and Frederic Meyer of Issaya Siamese Club. The food truck itself is of no ordinary size, housing a wood fired oven and a somewhat long counter to knead dough and sprinkle toppings on top beside blue interiors with a Pizza Massilia sign brightly lit with light bulbs like a broadway sign above. Spread out on both ends of the truck are chalkboards which serves as the food and drink menu.

After our orders were taken by the attentive staff, we were left to admire the relaxing ambience of Massilia. This retreat is only filled with the sounds of chatters from diners, no sound of the rumbling city we live in. Despite being outdoors, the breeze was very nice and refreshing - there was absolutely no need for air conditioning. The pizzas (available in 2 sizes; 250 - 400 baht) were served on lidless cardboard pizza trays, but for take aways don't worry - there are also pizza boxes (with lids). The ingredients used for the pizza dishes are imported from Italy and France. The base is made from organic Italian flour and is cooked in the traditional wood fire.

The margherita pizza (250/400 baht) had very few ingredients but gives bursts of flavour from the buffalo mozarella and the tomato basil, a classic that can never go wrong.

The truffle mortadella (490 baht) was quite bland if it weren't for the creamy truffle sauce, cheese and mortadella which melted and combined very well. Some olive oil was needed to give an extra kick. 

Our favourite pizza of the night was definitely the Scamorza Luganega Sausage (380 baht), a creamy yet salty combination, served with a hearty sprinkle of rucola leaves complementing the italian tomato and cheese, and how can we forget the sausage - the imported saussage was definitely a highlight of the dish.

To the dismay of Thai's not a variety of seasonings were on offer, including oregano.
Massilia's dough was good and thin, a little yeasty with a crust that was also nice, doughy, and light.
