Emack & Bolio's: Legendary Ice Cream Towers

Emack and Bolio's, an award winning ice cream shop from Boston, has migrated to the shopping mall Central World.

E&B became popular on social media when customers began to create ice cream scoop towers balanced atop marshmallow flavored cones.

The E&B stall isn't an actual restaurant, but a booth in the middle of a walkway. We managed to get a seat out of the few tables the booth contained but plan on a walk-and-eat treat if you stop by.

The staff were friendly and we were lucky to escape a long line, so we were able to choose our flavours quickly. Customer service was definitely a 5/5; the ladies behind the counter helped us to stack our ice cream and offered to put the scoops into cups afterwards to eat easily.

The E&B hype derives from tumblr-worthy photographs shared by customers on social media. There is a wide variety of flavours with creative names like Grasshopper Pie (mint chocolate chip with an Oreo twist) and Cosmic Crunch. Collectively, we agreed that Grasshopper Pie was one of our favourite flavours.

Unfortunately, the Fruit Loops-marshmallow cone and the Rice Krispie-marshmallow cone didn't meet expectations. They tasted good but their texture was too hard and it felt like they'd been super glued together. Even armed with plastic spoons, we struggled to get a bite off them.

Additionally, E&B strives to use non-genetically induced hormone bST milk and many flavors are halal certified. Perhaps that's why the prices were on the higher side.
