Our Market: Food Festival

On the 14th - 15th February, we went to Lan Morakot for the food festival in Chidlom.

Upon arrival, we were met by an array of stands and a food truck with massive balloons dotted between the stalls. Seats were scarce which meant that most food had to be consumed while standing. Unlike advertised, the venue was not in Central Embassy but in the giant lot in front of it. After a few minutes, the heat began to sink in and the atmosphere became quite lifeless. This could be due to the inconvenient location.

The only stall we managed to try was Bao & Buns. We ordered a pulled pork "Bao" which came with complementary taro and sweet potato fries. This was served in a traditional dim sum pan. Although the meat did not look the most appealing, it tasted fresh when it was lightly grilled with sauce and parsley. The texture of the bao was soft, but solid enough to not fall apart after each bite. The taro and sweet potato fries were quite thin and dainty and acted as a refreshing alternative to the typical french fry of a fast food joint. If you are interested in classic food with an Asian twist, we would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Other shops and restaurants at the festival included: Cafe Slow BKK, Eat Happy, Foodstop, Good happening, Healthy Juice, Moo More Milk, Nacho & etc, Skinni Bears, Waft Me, Stickhouse and the Barkyard.
